Car Safety Chief Backs Seat Belts on School Buses for the First Time

school bus lkwd tlsThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is endorsing three-point seat belts on school buses for the first time. In the past, NHTSA has suggested that retrofitting school buses with seat belts was a costly proposition and that buses, sans seat belts, were safe, NBC News reported.

“The position of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is that seat belts save lives,” said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in an interview Sunday. “That is true whether in a passenger car or in a big yellow bus. And saving lives is what we are about. So NHTSA’s policy is that every child on every school bus should have a three-point seat belt.” Read more on NBC.

  1. People, please dont tryto beat a busthat may be a relative. What happened to courtesy it went out the window,be courtiers, can’t believe how disrespectful drivers are today. Please go and take driving course again and respect one another, all lives matter

  2. You will have to get all the kids to sit long enough on the bus to matter..having kids bouncing frm seat to seat while the bus is in motion is not just a safety issue. It is dangerous to all other drivers going past them if they throw stuff out fo the bus while they are moving.
I think all students need to be seated and belted in.

  3. The kids will not wear the seat belts. Maybe the parents should teach thier own kids how to wear a seat belt before They are allowed to be on a bus. Everyone complains the bus driver is not doing his/her job.
