The Lakewood Township Residential Assistance Program (LTRAP) has closed the two-week application intake process, and nearly 10,000 applications were submitted.
The intake closed on November 23, 2015, at 5:00 P.M. following a two week online intake, which began at 9:00 A.M. on November 9, 2015.
The random computer-generated lottery selection of 3,000 pre-applications to be placed on the waiting list from the total of 9,683 pre-applications submitted during this intake period is expected to be completed by December 7, 2015. To find out if your pre-application was selected in the lottery, please log in to www.waitlistcheck.com. Please use the username and password created when you submitted your pre-application. The lottery will be conducted by HAPPY Software Co., which handled the entire online applications intake process for LTRAP. As this is a random lottery, no preferences or personal circumstances will be taken into consideration.
Again, a total of 3,000 pre-applications will be randomly selected from the 9,683 applications submitted. This means that each applicant basically has nearly a 1:3 chance of being selected and placed on the Waiting List. Beginning, Monday, December 7, 2015 applicants can check their status online. Applicants should not call the LTRAP office for information as this information is not readily available at the office.
Due to an ever-growing need for affordable housing assistance, LTRAP received more pre-applications for Housing Choice Vouchers than can be placed on the Waiting List. Limited federal funding for vouchers restricts how many families can be served. As a result, LTRAP, and many other Housing Agencies in the nation, use a random lottery process to select the families that will be placed on the Waiting List.
It did not matter on which open day you applied (the first, the last or any day in between). It did not matter from what location you applied or what device you used to apply. Every complete, unduplicated pre-application that was submitted had an equal chance in the lottery.

I doubt I’ll be a winner!-:)
One second; we’re a town (or city) of just about 100-120,000 people and close to 10,000 applications were submitted?!!! Sad!
