Op-Ed: Governor Christie: Do Israelis Need to be Killed in ‘Mass Murder’ for the Flags to be Lowered?

us flag tlsTo the honorable Governor Chris Christie: I read your executive order regarding the lowering of the flag in solidarity with France following the recent terror attacks. I also noticed that you ordered the flag lowered on Monday in mourning of the victims of the Mali attack.

I’m just wondering, why was there no order of lowering the flag for the approximately 20 innocent people – including an American – killed in the past two months in Israel?

Our Country’s strongest middle-east ally has been struck heavily and relentlessly by terrorists who have labeled it another intifada, yet, there’s no mention of it. No lowering of the flag. No statement issued in support.

Is it just mass murder that earns your solidarity? Is it only mass murder that earns any recognition?

Apparently not, however, because in September you ordered the flags lowered to honor the memory of Yogi Berra – a single man who wasn’t killed in violence.

So what is it? Is it just that being stabbed or shot to death is just a simple incident that has become so routine that it isn’t even worth a mention?

Governor, it’s something to think about.

  1. Y.K.,
What exactly is your problem? What is bothering you that would be taken care of if Governor Christie would lower the flags? Basically, what are you talking about?
