by M.K. This past Thursday Nesivos of Lakewood gave a presentation to the doctors at Pediatric Affiliates.
“Family doctors are often the first to clue in that a family is struggling with one of their children,” said Yishai Ghoori executive director of Nesivos. “Providing the proper services at an early stage, before the issues spiral out of control is critically important,” he noted.
Rabbi Binyamin Greenspoon LCSW clinical director of Nesivos, spoke about the importance of Nesivos as a community resource.
“There is a great need to streamline the network of services currently available for our teens, so that they can be accessed in a timely and efficient manner,” said Greenspoon. “Nesivos has created an address where parents, rabbaim, mentors, and teens themselves could turn to for guidance.”
Mrs. Michelle Inzelbuch, a case manager at Nesivos then provided the doctors with a detailed and in-depth look at the Nesivos assessment and case management process. She outlined the extent of the Nesivos services and spoke of its professionalism in identifying, organizing and coordinating care. The presentation ended with a Q&A session, and was summed up by Dr. Shanik in his usual succinct fashion “We will be using you a lot”.
Nesivos provides an initial detailed assessment to help teens and their families accurately identify their challenges, and connect them with the appropriate support services. They then tailor an individualized plan and coordinate rabbinic guidance, professional services, school personnel and family members to ensure that all are working towards a shared solution.
