Mayor Miller Orders Flags Flown at Half Staff Thursday in Memory of Lakewood Police Officer Chris Matlosz

chris_matlosz_flag_sportz_complex_tlsThursday marks the fifth anniversary of the cold-blooded murder of Officer Chris Matlosz. In marking the anniversary, Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller has ordered all flags flown at half staff in his honor.

“The Lakewood Township stands in solidarity with its police department as we eternalize the memory of Officer Matlosz,” Mayor Menashe Miller told TLS. “Law and order is the very basis and fabric of any society. Harming or shooting of a law enforcement official is waging war on the entire population.”

Chris Matlosz, who was engaged at the time, was shot on January 14, 2011 while getting out to talk with a suspect. The suspect opened fire from a close range, killing Matlosz before he had a chance to pull out his weapon.

“Chris was a young energetic officer whose life was cut short while in a senseless and brutal attack in the line of duty,” says the Mayor.

Jahmell Crockham, found guilty of the murder, is serving a life sentence.

  1. Thank you Mayor Miller for this nice gesture. This isn’t just for Lakewood but for all law enforcement nationwide. It’s just crazy what’s going on. Look at what just happened with the Philly officer.

  2. Officer Matlosz’s funeral is the only time I can ever remember BMG first Seder ending a few minutes early as the entire student body lined up on Clifton Ave in a show of respect to the officer killed.

  3. You are the best. LPD is honoring Chris and other patrolman in the hearts as they patrol Lakewood. Thank You Mr. Mayor for you dedicated time in the Air Force.

  4. This article and subsequent comments warms my heart. It’s very special to see the Town Mayor take personal interest and show care/concern for the officers and their morale. Rip 317

  6. Jahmell, an innocent man, sits in jail waiting for the day that justice will bring him out of that prison and back to where he belongs: living a life like all other law abidin citizens, not like those folk sitting in jail. 5 years since that cop dies on that fafeful day in January 2011 and still Jahmell C sits in jail waiting for the day that justice will bring him out. Al those folks workin in the lawyers office in toms river that were prosecutors together proved that a cop dies in lakewid and that Jahmell C was also in lakewid and so what? Lotta them folks was in lakewid on that fafeful day, don’t mean that any of those folks took that gun and fired at that cop so then netither did Jahmel C do that on that fafufel day in Lakewid 5 years ago. Jahmel C, if you be readin this remember that you is innocent unitl proven that you was guilty for something on taht fafeful day in lakewid 5 years ago.

  7. Gonzalez factor, first off learn how to spell.

Im sure he wasnt accused for no reason.
Thank god the Jewish community has chased out 90% of the riff raff out of here.
Now if we can get the rest of the deug dealers out Lakewood will prosper again.

  8. He was found guilty, in a court of law by a group of his peers, real law abiding* citizens, for the murder he commited in Lakewood* on that faithful* day. Then pled guilty to another murder he committed in Lakewood*. He is the definition of a coward and an animal and is in the 2nd best place he could be. The first being in Hell….but that will come soon enough.

    RIP 317

  9. Hey Gonzalez Factor, I see grammar wasn’t your strong suit in school huh?. Next time, utilize spell check or is that you are really just this stupid??.
