Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus Partner with Bikur Cholim to Bring Shuttle Service to Hospitals

bikur cholim new vanLocal residents now have access to a new shuttle that will transport patients, visitors and guests back and forth from Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus to Monmouth Medical Center, thanks to a partnership between Bikur Cholim and the two health care facilities.

Open free of charge to those in the community, the shuttle provides easy access for those in need of a ride to get to either campus or to travel between campuses. Bikur Cholim, which translates to “visiting the sick” in Hebrew, will provide the vehicle service to operate the van.

“At Barnabas Health, we are committed to building healthier communities,” said Frank J. Vozos, M.D., FACS, president and chief executive officer, Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus. “This shuttle will do more than keep us present in local neighborhoods – it will give patients an opportunity to access the care and support they need at either location, as well as make commutes for visitors and guests much easier.”

The shuttle will make the following public stops in the community:

Morning Shuttles

Pick Up: Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus – 9:30 a.m.

600 River Avenue, Lakewood

Arrive: Monmouth Medical Center – 10:30 a.m.

300 Second Avenue, Long Branch

Pick Up: Monmouth Medical Center – 11:30 a.m.

300 Second Avenue, Long Branch

Arrive: Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus – 12:30 p.m.

600 River Avenue, Lakewood

Afternoon Shuttles

Pick Up: Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus – 6 p.m.

600 River Avenue, Lakewood

Arrive: Monmouth Medical Center – 7 p.m.

300 Second Avenue, Long Branch

Pick Up: Monmouth Medical Center – 8 p.m.

300 Second Avenue, Long Branch

Arrive: Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus – 9 p.m.

600 River Avenue, Lakewood

“The need for transportation between Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus is constantly growing,” said Yehudah Kaszirer of Bikur Cholim. “Now with the direct shuttle between campuses, in addition to regular shuttle services, transportation is no longer a cause for concern in the community.”

The shuttle will also offer door-to-door services to local residents in the Lakewood and Long Branch communities. This service, which will require advance reservations, will provide transportation from one’s residence to either of the hospitals. No reservation is necessary to catch the van from Monmouth Medical Center or Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus.

  1. i assume that this service is available to ALL lakewood residents. if so, the phone number should be made available to everyone and so stated. unless i’m wrong
