Lakewood Township Employee expected to recover following horrific Parachuting accident

parachuter tlsThe Lakewood Township employee injured during a serious parachuting accident is expected to recover, Inspection Department director Mike Saccomanno tells TLS.

Kaitlyn Teixeira, an employee at the Inspection Department, was parachuting with an instructor approximately two weeks ago when their parachute collapsed about 30 feet above the ground. Kaitlyn and her instructor both came crashing down to the ground, suffering multiple serious injuries. They were both airlifted to the trauma center in Atlantic City.

There’s no word on the condition of the instructor, but Saccomanno Katlyn was transferred from the ICU to rehab, and is expected to recover.

“She’s an incredible strong-willed woman,” says Saccomanno. “She can’t wait to get back to work.” Though, that may take some time.

The last thing she remembers from that day, says Saccomanno, was that she was having a great time. She doesn’t remember the accident.

Kaitlyn is known around the department, and throughout the Township, as a dedicated employee, and always welcoming customers with a smile.

In fact, she loves her job so much, that the first thing she said when woke up was, “I have to get to work – I don’t want to take advantage of being out of work,” says her boss.

The staff at TLS wishes Kaitlyn, and the instructor, a speedy recovery.
