  1. The article should say “with warmer weather smaller vehicles, and pedestrians are urged to use extra caution on the roads, and be on the lookout for CARS!!!!! yes there are CARS on the roads and they belong there because thats what roads were built for. so when you are on you motorcycle and are passing a car on the RIGHT be very careful!!! and when you are crossing the street be careful there might just be a car driving there!

  2. OR it should say, drivers of cars should not ASSUME other drivers will make a right on red. just like you ASSUMED the motorcycle was passing on the right. you know what happens when you assume, right Craig?

  3. Maybe it should read, ‘With Warmer Weather Drivers are Encouraged to be on the Look Out for Motorcyclists an Pedestrians.’ Trust me, most people on bikes are already on the look out for cars; it’s their lives on the line. There are just some things you can’t “watch out for” and control, like alreadying going over the speed limit and having the car behind you right on the rear of your bike. If it’s a single lane road and no safe place to pull to the side, how is that the motorcyclists fault?
Drivers of cars are more distracted, because let’s face it, driving a car requires less attention and effort. You don’t constantly look around and see if that car waiting to pull out or switch lanes is going to see you (not as much as when you’re on a bike anyway), or if I hit a patch of sand and go down is this car tailgating me going to be able to stop in time before I’m roadkill.
Yes, there are people on bikes that drive recklessly (note: there’s a difference between recklessly stupid and aggressively to avoid dangerous situations), cars still need to look out for them; it shouldn’t just be one sided. Considering the amount of distracted driving from drivers of cars there is now days, and the fact that their metal box protecting their lives will do more damage to a person and their bike than that bike will do to a car, drivers need to stay alert. Don’t put the blame on motorcyclists (and pedestrians) when something happens to them that they didn’t cause and couldn’t avoid.

  4. CRAIG. Before you go running your mouth maybe you should CHECK YOUR FACTS. First off, the motorcycle was IN FRONT OF THE CAR, stopped, attempting to make a SAFE RIGHT TURN. The idiot in the car proceeded to RUN HIM OVER because he stupidly assumed that the motorcycle had turned. So maybe, just MAYBE the person in the car should have been utilizing BASIC DRIVING SKILLS such as LOOKING before turning.

  6. I see all the times these young kids that ride their crotch rockets like mad men through residential streets. They are always passing between cars which is illegal and dangerous. I see it on rt 37 all the time they creep up to the traffic light while all the cars are stopped. Go look at the news most motorcycle accidents are the fault of the rider not the other driver.

  7. And as far as pedestrians getting hit by cars goes. When we have cars hitting people who are walking on the sidewalks then we have a problem. but if the cars are in the street where they belong then it’s the pedestrians that have to make sure they don’t get hit by cars. And crosswalks only makes it worse we are telling the people throw all caution to the wind. Just step into the street without looking, don’t worry when you’re lying in the ICU the driver that hit you will get a ticket.

  8. To everyone the guy on cycle is a very lucky man if everyone would stop rushing around and look what he or she is doing maybe there will be less accidents the driver made a mistake which shook him badly thank god the young man was able to jump from bike before it got ran over

  9. Once again, CRAIG, this gentleman was riding a HARLEY, and he is not a kid. He is an adult. Who was safely riding himself to work at 9 this morning. You need to just shut up and keep your incorrect opinion to yourself.

  10. Young kid? This guy is a marine and a veteran. Far from a young kid. The guy in the car was looking left to turn onto 70 and had no idea a bike was on front of him. He hit the bike and came up over the rear wheel and STILL didn’t know the bike was there. When he felt the CAR BUMPER on his back as he was getting shoved forward he decided to bail. Once he bailed the bike fell. The car then still drove forward and dragged the bike down the road until the cars wheels were off the ground and he couldn’t go anymore. So please tell me how this was at all the riders fault.
