  1. How is it your business if I’m driving the way you consider it safe. Should it be illegal to eat too much candy or “buy large sodas” ?!

  2. This is an incredible waste of resources to enforce a law that shouldn’t be on the books to begin with. A person has the right to endanger himself in many ways – by smoking, drinking, skydiving, engaging in extreme sports; going out in the cold without proper apparel or by eating too much. These are all lifestyle choices that impact no one else. Driving around town I see drivers blowing stop signs – every day. I see drivers double park and block traffic and drive like drunks while holding their cellphones. As I see it, maybe the Police should take enforcement action against drivers that are a danger to others – not just themselves.

  3. Driving without a seat belt can endanger other. when a car gets hit and the driver is thrown around there is no one controlling the car which can then hit others. Example: car gets rear ended lightly sending the driver into the steering wheel or even worse the windshield, now the car continues moving out of control but with a seat belt the driver would simply hit the brakes and there would be minimal damage.

  5. Absolutely agree with “Brooklyn” and D Franco. It’s one thing to enforce child safety car seats and seatbelts, as children are not old enough or responsible enough to make their own decision regarding what is safe and they depend on responsible adults to guide them. But adults? That’s overreach by the government.

  6. It’s awesome! The debate has been long over and it’s the law. If your so lazy or so dumb not to even wear a seatbelt for your own good , you earned the tickets.

  7. Just because its the law doesn’t mean it makes sense. show me documented proof that not wearing a seatbelt endangers other drivers. absent such proof enforcement is simply a waste of resourced that could be used to enforce other driving issues that are trully a danger to others. just because its the law doesn’t mean it isn’t dumb….

  8. Agreed. This is the law. I do not advocate breaking the law. Personally, I wear a seatbelt. I was commenting solely on the use of so many officers to enforce a law that is of very little consequence and of limited impact to the general public. Have a wonderful day, all.

  9. Again, it is the law. And while I am a staunch supporter of individual liberties, I can go along with this one. Kind of like why they require motorcycle helmets and child car seats. In the

Typically with these initiatives they also find: Impaired drivers, uninsured drivers, texting/talking violations, fugitives, etc.

If someone wants to not wear a seatbelt fine, do what you can to have the law. Until then obey the law or accept the consequences
