Click it or Ticket 2016 Results for Lakewood

click it or ticket 2016 tlsThe national Click it or Ticket campaign has ended, and the results are in for Lakewood.

Lakewood Police Captain Gregory Meyer tells TLS 157 summonses were issued during the campaign.

Approximately 120 summonses were issued for seatbelt violations, and approximately 37 for other violations.

greg meyer captain lpd“It’s not about the amount of tickets we write, but rather the message we try to send to people to take the extra second to buckle up – even on short trips – as most accidents occur within a short distance to your home,” says Captain Meyer. “And remember to buckle your children up as well.”

  1. we should be very proud; 120 tixx for a town with the amount of drivers we have, does NOT sound like a lot. Just goes to show, we are very careful, considerate, law-abiding drivers. I always knew it & now I can prove it. Thanx TLS for reporting this news tidbit.

  2. Most accidents happen close to home because unlike highways most homes are in residential areas with many intersections. Additionally, most people drive spend most of their time driving – close to home. I don’t think you’re any safer driving far away from home.

    Way to skew the numbers… realize that 1 or 2 officers were working in 4 hours blocks under the grant; this is a lot of tickets per man hour. Why do you think NJSP comes here – it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.
