PHOTOS: Lakewood’s Sanz-Klausenburg Kehilla to Establish Kiryah in Lakewood

sk1by M.C. The news of the new housing development “River Gardens” was received with great excitement by the Sanz-Klausenburg Kehilla in Lakewood and beyond.

The Sanz-Klausenburg Kehilla was established in Lakewood around 15 years ago by Bais Medrash Govoha Talmidim, attracting a group of Bnei Torah.

With the blessing of the Sanz Klausenburg Rebbi Shlita, the Kehilla opened their first Bais Medrash on Spruce street with a mere 12 Mispallelim. As the Kehilla grew and flourished, they relocated to a larger shul on River Avenue. Today, the Kehillah boasts over 60 families, a mix of Kollel Yungerleit and Balai Batim Bnei Torah. The Shul serves as a center for daily Minyanim, a Kollel and Shiurim.

Responding to the needs of the Kehilla, Askanim have been actively searching for a location where families can purchase homes together and be within walking distance of their Shul.

“After tireless work their efforts paid off and land was purchased for the beautiful “Kiryas Sanz-Klausenburg”, said an Askan.

Phase one will include 70 houses, with additional land secured if necessary.

“The area chosen is specifically catered to the needs of the community even with families without a car, as it is right near existing public transportation, large supermarkets, a pharmacy, and all other shopping needs are within a five minute walking distance – something unique in Lakewood.”

In conversation with TLS, the Askan behind the project says, “With blessing of the Rebbi Shlita who has given the Askanim birchas Kodsho, Roshei Hakehilla and Askanim in New York have arranged a special fund assigned to assist for Bnei Torah to be able to afford the purchasing of homes in the new Kiryah.”

The Kiryah will have a new shul, and final flans for a talmud Torah, girls school and mikvah, are well underway with thousands of dollars already poured into these projects, he said. “The new mosdos are expected to open for the school year beginning in September of 2017.
