Two Lakewood cops suffered injuries today while tackling a suspect who ran from a police car, sources told TLS.
After arresting the man for allegedly touching a woman, the suspect was placed in cuffs, but not fully, reportedly due to him wearing a sling.
When police began transporting him, he began kicking and screaming, forcing police to pull over. Once pulled over, the officer opened the door, and the suspected dashed out.
Officers gave chase, and caught up with him a short distance later and tackled him, during which two officers suffered injuries.
The officers were hospitalized and treated for their injuries – which reportedly included scrapes and sprains.
Charges against the suspect were not immediately available.
