Newest Lakewood BOE member hopes to bring Board practical experience, compassion and leadership

thea jThe newest member of the Lakewood Board of Education is looking to bring real change to the Board.

As earlier reported, the Lakewood BOE last week swore in Ms. Thea Jackson, filling the seat of Mr. Brull, who resigned.

Ms. Thea Jackson is a lifelong resident of Lakewood and a graduate of the Lake Public School District, where her daughter is currently a First Grade student. She is currently a Vice Principal in the Asbury Park Public School District and has been an instructional leader there for 19 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Delaware State University in May 1997 and her Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Seton Hall in May 2004.

“Having been personally shaped by the Lakewood schools, Ms. Jackson hopes her service on the Board of Education will allow her the opportunity to give back to the community in which her family has lived for three generations,” Board Attorney Marc Zitomer told TLS. “As a resident, taxpayer, parent, and educator, Ms. Jackson believes she will bring to the Board practical experience, compassion and leadership. Ms. Jackson plans on working with the Board and administration to promote a positive tone for collaborative school and community relations by articulating the mission, seeking community support, and fostering rapport and respect with all stakeholders.”
