SHOCKING AUDIO: Lakewood Commuter’s 911 call transferred to NJSP goes to answering machine

911 dispatch tls[AUDIO & DASHCAM VIDEO BELOW] A Lakewood resident is wondering why his call went unanswered at the NJSP dispatch center.

The resident was commuting to work on Wenesday when he spotted an erratic driver, and dialed 911.

The operator told the caller to standby as he transferred him to the State Police. The phone then rang for about a minute straight, but nobody answered at the NJSP. An answering machine said the call would now be disconnected.

“Your party is not answering, please try your call later,” the machine said. Nobody called back, the caller told TLS.

“It’s pretty crazy if you ask me,” said the caller. “Imagine if it was a real emergency.”

  1. Sorry to say, I don’t see any major erratic driving.
Maybe because of many people bothering the police for petty things like these, result in them not being able to pick up calls.

911 is an emergency line, for non emergencies one should call the local station.

  2. Emergencies wouldn’t go to an answering machine. What the caller failed to do is submit the entire message. He probably indicated it’s not an emergency.

  3. You never dial 911. That goes to the County and then gets re routed, takes forever and prone to errors.
Always call the local stationhouse. An Officer will answer generally On the first ring. Give your name and address. Make the report. Before you hang up they’re on the way.
