Two teenage boys have been charged in connection with the August 25 Swastika incident at a Jewish Lakewood school playground, police said.
On September 12, Patrol Officers Dennis Dowden, Matthew Richardson and Joshua Spagnuolo were dispatched to investigate a report of trespassing at a building on Second Street.
Upon arrival, the Officers found six teenagers on the property engaging in vandalism by breaking out several windows with a sledge hammer. All six were transported to headquarters and charged accordingly.
Based on the location of the event and the acts of vandalism, investigators believed that these juveniles may have been responsible for the August 25th painting of swastika’s and graffiti at the playground.
“Further investigation conducted by Detective’s Michael Cavallo and Oscar Valmon revealed that two of the boys, ages 13 and 14, were in fact responsible for the bias crime,” Detective Lieutenant Greg Stafforsmith said. “Both were charged with Bias Intimidation as well as Criminal Mischief for their role.”
