  1. Is Governor Christie in New Jersey today or will he be managing this crisis from out-of-state via his cell phone?

For those who may have forgotten, last year Chris Christie was out of New Jersey most of the time.

  2. So sad. People just trying to get to work. Very busy station. Too early to know exactly what happened. Trying to contact people I know who travel that route. Prayers to everyone involved.

  3. To puppy jack- do you really think the Governor is needed to manage this “crisis” as you call it? It was a terrible accident, but not an ongoing dangerous situation like a terrorist attack or even a snowstorm or hurricane which requires constant monitoring, and directing and mobilizing resources to help keep people safe. Between police, fire, paramedics, other first responders, the Federal Railroad Administration, NTSB, and other agencies, these professionals know what they are doing better and quicker than any governor or manager can possibly direct them. As long as the governor is given updates on information, including status of casualties, status of investigation findings, and other developments, he can do his part of the job just fine, wherever he may be.

  4. It is a crisis, Truth, and that fact is not changed because you, for some reason, felt the need to place quotation marks around the word crisis.

And, yes, the Governor was and is needed to manage this ongoing crisis. Someone has to coordinate the government’s response to this crisis. Someone needs to address the concerns of the traveling public. That person should be the Governor, and preferably a hands-on governor at that. Call me old-fashioned, but I believe that if you are being paid to do a job, you ought to actually show up for work. Leaders lead from the front; they don’t phone it in from out-of-state. That said, and given Chris Christie’s horrible work ethic, I don’t think it was unreasonable of me to ask, albeit rhetorically, whether our Governor was actually in New Jersey when this crisis first occurred.
