PHOTO: School Bus driver going wrong way around traffic circle curses driver who blocked him

img_4436A motorist blocked in a school bus trying to cut a traffic circle, and got harassed by the driver for doing so.

The driver said he was driving around the Oak Street traffic circle around 3 PM this afternoon, when a school bus driver suddenly came head-on with him, trying to make a left turn – instead of going around the circle.

The motorist said he stopped his vehicle, rolled down the window and began taking pictures of the full bus and bus driver, who began cursing and harassing him.

“Just [expletive] move,” the driver – described as an older white male – reportedly yelled, with Frum girls on the bus. When the motorist responded to the driver that he was going the wrong way, he cursed again.

A call to the bus company this afternoon went unanswered.

  1. He should have just taking down the bus number and called compony instead of playing police ! The bus driver are so pressured bec everygroup they go to all the parants do is complain

  2. While I don’t condone reckless driving foul laguage by anybody, I still don’t understand why all drivers don’t have full respect for the bus drivers of this town. THEY ARE DRIVING YOUR KIDS. If it means that you let them make a turn and you have to wait an extra few minutes, is that so bad, there are 50 or so kids on that bus LET THEM GO DON’T GIVE THEM A HARD TIME. It’s hard enough as it is to drive around deal with all the parents, bus stops and school administrators. Let the roads be the easy part of the job as it will get your kids home quicker and safer.
    Thank you.

  3. @1 u r 100% WRONG❗️ Just bec of pressure that DOES NOT give a bus driver or any driver a right to drive recklessly & ESPECIALLY a bus driver even without children on the BUS❗️I think its finally time someone does something to show bus drivers that they cannot jut do whatever they, & I think that’s it’s abt time mayb the Police shud b called when Buses drive recklessly. The bus drivers do not realize the responsibility they have when behind the wheel of a school bus. Did they ever stop and think for a second that it’s not just a job that brings home a pay check! It’s a responsibility of a lot of children in their hands! And a bus is not a car! The way the bus drivers in this town drive has got to stop‼️ They Drive Like Animals‼️ But b4 I finish I do want to give a big shoutout to the minority of bud drivers that do drive like normal human beings and do care about the safety of themselves the children and the rest of the general public!!! I really hope this issue is addressed!!!

  4. The cursing in front of the children was clearly out of line, but that Oak Street Circle is ridiculous… First off the street is not wide enough to accommodate a bus or truck getting around it without going on to the opposite street where there are generally cars. Second of all, very few people who know how to use the circle properly.

I live in the area and am shocked that there aren’t more accidents. Unfortunately in this town it takes a serious accident for changes to happen.

A standard four way stop would be much more efficient

  5. That turning circle is very tight, hard for a car to get around, not sure how buss drivers do it. It should be removed and left as a 4 way stop sign

  6. This is not related but similar idea. I was cut off at a 4 way stop sign by oak and vine. It was my turn to go and all of a sudden a blue jeep pulls up along side of me, he/she cut the line and just crossed the intersection in place of me. Again that day I was cut off while waiting to make a left turn from marc drive onto pine. Also by a jeep, maybe the same person…he/she cut the line and stuck themselves into pine street traffic. It was really dangerous.

  7. The first thing that circle should have never been installed. Secondly the circle should have been removed a long time ago when they put up the 4 way stop signs. Lastly the circle is way too small for a school bus to go around. Remove the circle NOW!!.

  8. Why is this so complicated?

Why is this about the efficiency of the traffic circle?

Why is this about how hard traffic is on bus drivers?

He made an illegal left turn the wrong way into oncoming traffic with a bus full of children

So the oncoming traffic should just clear the way for him?

He should be fired and charged with endangering the welfare of a child x how many children were on that bus

Not to mention losing his cool and cursing at the driver going in the right direction

  9. Anyone that drives in Lakewood should not be surprised by this story many busdrivers in Lakewood (try to) do whatever they want and they expect all other drivers to bow down to them. These busdrivers are the ones endangering the kids not the innocent drivers.

  10. I can’t condone improper behavior, but the bus drivers are under a tremendous amount of pressure – with a lot of traffic preventing them from completing their routes on time – they are then late for the next route. Let’s show some understanding and appreciation. We all sometimes can loose it under pressure!!

  11. Car in front of me almost crashed into a bus that made a left on red, and no, the light had not just turned red for him, I couldn’t believe it, those kids on the bus were lucky. i made sure to honk a long time to show bus driver what he did. this was yesterday by New Hampshire and Ridge.

  12. Regardless if the bus driver is on time or behind schedule they should obey all the laws, signs and traffic lights. They are supposedly professional drivers, and as such should immediately be fired if they receive a moving violation. Furthermore if they are reckless, then they not only are endangering their life, but the lives of all the children onboard as well as other motorists. That being said operators of motor vehicles must also be aware and obey the laws especially around the school busses because your actions will endanger the lives of the children as well. You must realize that a bus is a heavy vehicle cannot stop on a dime. If everyone was just a little more courteous others then the roadways would be a lot safer.

  13. I read about the pressure that the school bus drivers have and that they are driving OUR kids. YES, our kids! When our kids are killed because of the reckless bus drivers people will have a different message. That driver almost had a head on with me at that circle.
