A bank robber was apprehended after authorities found him hiding in a bathroom, police said today.
On September 29th the United States Marshals took Richard Winivaski Jr., age 30, into custody on charges stemming from a September 22nd Toms River Bank Robbery. During the robbery he entered the Wells Fargo bank located at 1700 Route 37 at 9am and demanded money from the teller. Winivaski fled the area on foot with the cash. He was identified a short time later when Toms River Police Detectives and social media followers recognized him from the banks surveillance photos.
Winiavski was located at 2pm on Thursday in Paterson New Jersey by members of the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Division. He was found hiding in a friend’s bathroom and was apprehended after the culmination of surveillance operations and interviews.
Police spokesman Ralph Stocco praised the efforts of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI & Warrant Divisions as well as the US Marshals for their cooperation and assistance.
Winiavski, of the 2200 block of Hovsons Boulevard in Toms River, was transported to the Toms River Police Department for processing and later lodged in Ocean County jail in default of $75,000 bail (no 10%). He was charged by Detective Robert O’Neill with one count of Robbery.
