3. To No. 1 – because they’re Mexican and proud of their heritage, just like the rest of us, Irish, Jewish, Italian, Greek, Scottish, African American, (too many to list), etc. Hope all had a wonderful time.

4. Allow me to draw an important distinction: pride in one’s ethnic or national heritage is neither unusual nor improper. There is a big difference when the underlying sentiment is separationist or otherwise an expression of rejection of your host country and loyalty to your country of origin. Irish, Greek, Jewish, Italian and other ethnic Americans wholeheartedly embraced their new nationality when they came here. The waves of latino immigrants of the last few decades have not. They make no secret of their resentment towards America, reject its culture and traditions and otherwise refuse to assimilate.

5. TruthLaser is 100% correct. A nations independence day is not not related to culture or Heritage. It is not the same as some of the other Holidays and traditions that people from Latin, Irish, and Italian heritage have.

   Even though the argument can be made that July 4 should be an international holiday, as it was the first modern democracy in modern times and led to the current democracies that exist worldwide, it is not.

   In my business, I deal with foreign customers. They aren’t even aware that July 4 is a Holiday in the U.S. and I never hear of it being celebrated anywhere else.

   If immigrants would truly adopt and appreciate the nation that they are currently in, they would not be celebrating the independence day of the country they came from.

6. To No. 4 – really??? Do they celebrate Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, honoring out great men/women who gave us the freedoms we have? Yes they do. Where are you getting your information from. Who are the people who reject OUR American traditions? Think about that for a moment. It will come to you real fast. Stop with the hate. Don’t lump all people together. Be nice to all.

7. I hope we also refuse to assimilate, and thank the country for allowing us to live the way we choose.

8. It’s offensive to say us Mexicans should not celebrate our Independence Day because we are in America . My MEXICAN brother who serves for the military and is in the marines celebrates Mexican Independence Day. Are we not allowed to celebrate our heritage? And Yes we celebrate Fourth of July!
