By Freeholder Vicari. It’s that time of year again – open enrollment for Medicare Part D.
Our Ocean County Office of Senior Services is ready to assist our residents choose the best plan for them.
Picking a Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit plan can be a complex and seemingly overwhelming challenge, but our staff is here to help.
All of our Office of Senior Services Information and Assistance staff members are certified State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselors and there are 32 additional counselors located throughout Ocean County.
These counselors are available to help seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries with the drug plan enrollment process and answer any questions. And remember this information is always provided free of charge.
By comparing plans, you can see if another Medicare plan would save you money and/or cover more of your prescriptions.

As it has been in past years, the County Connection at the Ocean County Mall in Toms River will also host a number of one-on-one sessions with seniors looking for their best option.
Called Part D Days, the assistance will be provided at the County Connection at the Ocean County Mall, Toms River, on the following dates: Oct. 19 and 26; Nov. 2, 3, 15, and 30 and also Dec. 1 and 6.
Appointments at the County Connection can be scheduled by calling Donna at 732-288-7777. Appointments are offered from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Remember, the deadline to enroll in a new Medicare Part D plan is Wednesday, December 7, so act now and ensure that you have the best possible benefit plan in 2017.
