10AM: Lakewood UEZ to Host New Workshop for Businesses Seeking Loans; Walk-ins welcome

uez sign mayor miller tls picThe UEZ has created a brand new workshop geared towards helping entrepreneurs and small businesses to learn the basic accounting terms, how to read their financial statements and most importantly, why they should know these things. This is a great primer for any business thinking about seeking a loan to expand and grow their company. The workshop will be held on November 9th at 10 a.m. in the Lakewood Municipal Building, Second Floor, Room C.

Often times, entrepreneurs lack the time and/or basic knowledge to maintain accurate financial records, relying solely on the balance in their checking accounts to be the indicator of success or failure. The workshop will help business owners learn some basic accounting terms and what the accounting reports really mean in order to guide them through expanding their businesses. This is especially so when they are seeking financing from a bank or other lending institution. The financial reports help tell the story of the business and its likelihood of future success.

Our guest speakers are Owen Dornstein, CPA and Dina Dornstein, MBA of Pro Accounting & Tax Services! In addition, Michael Ragusa, Assistant Vice President and Small Business Relationship Manager of Santandar Bank and Deby Findley of Fulton Bank will be available to talk about the loan process as well as stress the importance of good bookkeeping practices. Mr. Ragusa and Ms. Findley are active in the Lakewood business community. Mr. Ragusa also serves on the LDC’s Finance Committee that reviews the UEZ Microloan applications.

To register for the workshop visit www.lakewoodnj.gov/department/uez . For more information about the UEZ program, contact the office at 732-364-2500 extension 5260.
