VIDEO: Minyan Shelanu’s Xtreme Runner 2016 Highlights

img_8339[VIDEO BELOW] On Sunday Nov 13th, Xtreme Runners gathered at Raceway Park to take on the xtreme obstacle course Minyan Shelanu prepared for them.

It was a beautiful sunny day, allowing runners and spectators to enjoy the time outdoors. Family and friends who came to support the runners enjoyed a delicious BBQ, activities, inflatable fun & face painting for the kids. There was a separate mens and womens race so that everyone got a chance to participate.

The men’s race began at 2 pm with a warm up directed by trainer Don Allarde, prepping the runners for the challenge up ahead. Once the race got underway, spectators were able to watch live as the runners tackled the xtreme obstacles. Some of the obstacles include a 6 ft wall, 25 ft high cargo climb, insane monkey bars & much much more!

For the first time ever, we had a first place tie of Eli Shain and Nochum Grunhut, coming in to the finish line in just over 32 minutes!

The Xtreme Runner event was created as a fundraiser for Minyan Shelanu. The Minyan is the primary organization in Lakewood that works with our teens and young adults who are facing their own lifes challenges. Minyan Shelanu provides a safe environment for the kids to be who they are. There are three minyanim daily so the guys can daven in a place where they feel accepted and loved. Dinner is served each day, followed by game room time, & night seder. This is just a taste of what Minyan Shelanu does for the teens of our community. The Xtreme Runner is a chance for the rest of us to get involved, show our support and appreciation in a different way.

This year’s event succeeded beyond expectations, thanks to all the runners’ dedication and commitment to The Minyan, and the cause. Congratulations to all the runners for completing the course in record time! Special thank you to all our corporate sponsors and to all the donors who sponsored the runners and helped them reach their goals.
