PHOTO: Lakewood Fire Department holds training exercise

lfd-drillThe Fire Department held a department-wide training exercise yesterday in Lakewood.

The Department thanked the resident who hosted the training.

“The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners along with Fire Chief Mike D’Elia Jr. and the members of the Lakewood Fire Department extend their sincere appreciation to Mr. David Helmreich for allowing the Fire Department to utilize his property for training. This proved to be an invaluable exercise since it enabled the simulation of real-life scenarios including the many and varied hazards firefighters encounter when responding to and fighting fires. Not only did Mr. Helmreich provide the use of his property, he went above and beyond by providing lunch and refreshments for the firefighters as well. The Lakewood Fire Department welcomes the use of vacant homes or buildings for training and should an owner be willing to provide their property for such use, they are encouraged to contact the Fire Department.”
