Askonim in Lakewood and Brooklyn this morning are seeking answers after a woman was involved in a serious accident, but the husband was not notified until about 10 hours later, TLS has learned.
The Frum woman, approximately 62 years old, was traveling from Brooklyn to New Jersey at about 10 AM for a meeting, but was involved in a serious accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.
It reportedly took about 25 minutes for emergency crews to cut the woman out of her vehicle, and she was transported unconscious and in serious condition to the hospital. Nobody in her family had any idea of what had transpired.
By late afternoon, when the husband returned from work and failed to hear from his wife after her meeting, he called her cell phone but it went unanswered. He made more phone calls and found out she never showed up to the meeting.
A call was put into State Police inquiring about any accidents along the Garden State Parkway – assuming that was the route she would be taking – but they had no reports. A call was also made to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, but she wasn’t there.
Lakewood Askonim, and children of the accident victim, immediately went down to police headquarters in Lakewood, and with Lieutenant Finnigan began the process of pinging the phone.
Meanwhile, Askonim in Boro Park advised the husband to make a Missing Persons report.
While on the phone with police, at approximately 9:00 PM, the husband received a knock at the door. It was an officer from the NYPD notifying him his wife was involved in a car accident, and she was in serous condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Jersey.
Lakewood and Brooklyn Askonim this morning told TLS they are shocked and looking for answers.
“Did they not have her license plate? Did they not have her pocketbook with her information? What about her registration? Something doesn’t add up,” an Askan said. “She was basically known a Jane Doe for nearly 10 hours. What took this long?”
The woman remains in critical but stable condition, a family member told TLS.

On everyone’s cell phone is a ICE(in case of emergency) contacts everyone should make sure to have numbers to there spouse,children or anyone else that they would want someone to contact in an emergency situation.

ICE doesn’t help if the phone is locked. People should have their phone numbers written on a piece of paper in their bag, and in their purse. She should have a complete Refuah Shelaima. I’m so sorry for her family.
ICE works on my phone phone without password. My kids call my husband from my phone all the time when it’s locked by going into emergency.
On the screen to enter your password on the bottom there is a choice for emergency. When you select that you have a choice to call emergency help (911) or on the bottom it says medical id. Medical id contains the owners name, age, weight, height, emergency contacts, and any imp info like allergies. You can select to call any of the emergency contact. No password required.
These are good suggestions. However, in this case, nobody cared to identify the women. Her driver’s license could have been used to identify her without waiting 10 hours.
I worked in an emergency department. You don’t want to be brought in as John or Jane Doe with no one looking after you. Hopefully Robert Wood Johnson staff administered good care despite her being alone.

Wow crazy story a little crazier then the cashiers licking bags….
She was cut out of the car. It’s likely that the emergency medical personnel were more interested in keeping her alive than searching for a purse or cell phone.
It is the job of law enforcement, not EMS, to identify and notify.
Another idea if u have a password on your phone is when u put the screen saver or picture on your screen or use pic college or the like, add a name and contact number and save to screen.
