boe meeting tlsFIRST REPORT: The Board of Education moments ago announced it will not be renewing the contract of Lakewood School District Superintendent Laura Winters.

The Superintendent’s five-year contract expires in June. She replaced longtime Superintendent Lydia Silva in 2012 .

The Board indicated they want stronger leadership for the district.

  1. now next lets get rid of tara who is not qualified nor educated to hold the position of director of transportation. Board open up your eyes.

  2. Is the board aware that Tara Vasquez, Director of Transportation made it mandatory verbally and by a notice texted to drivers that they had to attend the board meeting tonite to show support for Winters and they had to wear their Lakewood shirts.
Is this grammar school or is it the LAKEWOOD TRANSPORATION EXECUTIVE OFFICES??Very tacky and unprofessional.
Whats Tara going to do now with out her BFF backing her and all her costly purchases???

  3. the Lakewood drivers were told that if they did not support winters at the meeting tonite they might not have buses next year. Is the multiple state monitors monitoring at all the money being spent by the transportation department??

  4. Blaming a symptom –not the solution !!!

Ms Winters who I worked with for some 12 years is a smart and dedicated person when there is an agreed upon cause to be dedicated to and where loyalty exists .

The problem is the District is in a state of paralysis with no reason for initiative and riddled with ineptitude.

Good luck Ms Winters in your future endeavors

Your service , albeit thwarted and plaqued by many competing interests and, resultingly , mediocre at best .is noted .

  5. Great news, maybe the new superintendent will be available to meet with parents instead of her never being available. Bring Gus back who is sorely miss and change the entire office staff

  6. The problem is the BOE, they run the system and ran the Super. They have their own agenda and until that changes, nothing will change in Lakewood. No supplies or books for the public schools, the schools are dire repair, but the money and supplies are sent elsewhere by the board.
