The Ocean County Board of Elections has moments ago declared a tie for the second seat of the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners.
As earlier reported, Avi Lieber won the first seat, but the second seat was too close to call.
According to the initial numbers, Denise Gregory received 383 votes, and Larry Loigman received 382. However, from the ballots up in question, Loigman received two additional votes, and Gregory one more, making it a tie.
What happens now?
The elections are now out of the hands of the local boards, and goes to the County to decide.
“As long as I can remember, we never had such a thing,” an official told TLS.
