The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Dear Mayor Coles:
How are you going to go about fixing the roads around town, specifically in the Oak Albert area (which is one of the highest paying tax areas in the town)? The roads are literally ripped up, causing a major hazard. We need replacement. Why doesn’t the Township pave instead of wasting money on constantly filling them?
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for being patient with my response.
Albert Ave is scheduled for a lot of work this coming year. We are planning on doing major drainage improvements, installing sidewalks and doing some road reconstruction. Oak is not on the list for this year. There is so much construction going on along Oak it is not feasible to redo the road until a lot of it is done. I will tell our engineering department to make sure that any roadway that so disturbed because of construction is put back into good condition before signing off. I will also let Pubic Works know that any area that is in real rough shape may need more attention than just pothole repair.
Take Care
Ray

How about the ridge area ? The roads are as good as a third world country!
Try Detroit. If you guys think the roads in Lakewood are bad take a trip out there. But don’t wait till yours become like that … a lot harder to improve after that level of damage.
Mayor Coles,
We really need a traffic signal at Cross Street and Augusta Boulevard.
If I recall last year there was a list of rodes on the tls that will b getting repaired during the year of 2016.
I don’t think that happend, anyone know when it will?
I beleav carenetta was on the list
I’m still waiting to c it happen
Thanx@ Mayor R. Coles
Bill Hobday, if there is another light on cross, you can say goodbye to driving on Cross. Yes, a light may make it easier to make a left turn onto Cross, but a light is just not practical at this time.
They don’t stop the housing congestion it goes on and on and on
With no end in site
I do not believe the question was asked about the relatively OK Albert Ave between Oak and Pine Streets, rather the terrible condition of Albert between Oak and Salem streets, which does not have any sidewalk plans for the near future. Mr. Mayor Please take note of that descrepency and take a drive there, thank you
