The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Dear Mr. Mayor,
Thank you for your service.
My question is regarding garbadge pickup.
Back when we had the old fashioned bins and the sanitation fellows picked up garbadge, they usually left the bins orderly in the spot where the homeowner put it.
Now every week they just leave it wherever it happens to land. When we get home our driveways are blocked by the bins. We have to stop the car (if there is any traffic that means we must block the cars behind us) get out and move the bins.
We the people who pay taxes are paying the saleries. Why can’t we get the job done nicely? They are sitting in a truck. They don’t have to get out in the rain, snow, etc. They get paid very well. As a tax payer I expect better.
Please take care of this issue ASAP.
Thank you.
One of many that pay way to much for the service!
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
I just spoke with our Public Works Director, Pat Donnelly. He says this has been a topic of discussion and they are working on resolving it.
He said “No matter how it shakes the guys need to get out and pick the can up. I understand they can’t do everyone with time constraints, but we have been training a lot of the new guys we have coming in. Either way we will handle it”
Pat is a man of his word & I am confident this will improve. Residents can also help by making sure the cans are free of any obstacles and not placed in front of driveways or mailboxes.
Thanks,
Ray

Very valid point
And Ty mr. Mayor!
now what happens whe I c the driver dropping them all over on the floof
is there a number I can call to report it?
(bec no chance he will listen to me)
I’m nit really understanding the answer & I’m the one that asked it!
What’s it gave to do with obstructions and time constraints ? Why can’t the driver just turn his head a little and look where he is putting it?? He turns his head to pick it up let him turn it one more time to put back down the way he found it!
If this were a private hire he would be fired
To Izzy. The Mayor just responded that they acknowledge the issue and are working to correct it. Knowing how to accept constructive criticism and resolving to improve it is something to admire. The Mayor wasn’t excusing the behavior but explaining why it can happen even if it shouldn’t
