Lakewood Memorial Day parade cancelled due to anticipated rain; UPDATE – Toms River & Brick also cancelled

The town’s annual Memorial Day parade has been cancelled due to the heavy rain forecasted for Monday, Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller told TLS moments ago.

“The parade, which traditionally starts at the Lakewood town square and runs down Clifton Avenue to the All Wars Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, will not be held because of the antici pated rain storms (according to the national Weather Service new precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible),” the Deputy Mayor said.

The annual ceremony and parade honoring the memory of those who died while serving in the armed forces will be rescheduled at a later date.

Toms River and Brick Township on Monday morning also cancelled the parades.
