LSTA: Planning underway for 2017-18 school year

As we near the end of this school year, planning is well underway for the next upcoming 2017-2018 school year, says Rabbi Avraham Krawiec of the LSTA.

The first bid for bus routes 2017 -18 were held on May 23rd and included 36 schools.

“The order of bids were determined by the order of the completed data (names of students, forms and other such information) that was received by the LSTA and was not dependent on school size or any other factors,” Krawiec says.

“Schools are being sent the proposed routes for their input before the routes are finalized. We anticipate having bids of similar size every two to three weeks until all bids are completed.”

He ads, “Our goal is to complete the bids before the Summer break and look forward to a smooth beginning to next school year.”

“We will keep everyone updated as things proceed.”

  1. Wow it’s May and some kids already have bussing for next year!
Really happy that the bids are going in order of schools handing in information instead of whoever has more pull. Keep it up!

  2. I’ll believe it when I see it. We had bussing before LSTA came around and then lost it when LSTA took over. We are frustrated as can be.

  3. Great job by Rabbi Krawiec!
Cant remember the BOE ever doing the bids this early and what a fair process, the schools that complete the work first get served first.
    Keep up the great work!!!!

  4. As a parent in morreshes bais yakove I would ike to thank R Perlstein for pulling off busing for next year i know it wasnt easy
    Thank you so much

  5. All I can say is it will take me a long time to recover from the year ’16-’17 when the LSTA came around and I lost my busing for my kids. I still don’t have busing and its hard to celebrate news about next years busing.

  6. my kids schools said if i dont fill out the sheet and give 150 dollars for courtesy bussing then I wont get bussing next year. Is this true? I never sent it in because I am upset that some schools arent charging the parents for courtesy bussing and some are. It isnt fairly done.

  7. The schools are not charging. The Lsta is charging. They are charging students of every school. Last year ,because everything was in a rush, one school didn’t cooperate in charging for the Lsta. But this year, anybody who doesn’t send in the form with payment to the Lsta won’t get busing , no matter what school you attend.
