A Lakewood resident’s patented safety product was presented in the Israeli Government in an effort to standardize this system for the Israeli public.
The ‘Ride N Remind’ system, inbvented by Chaim Sinai Orbach, CEO of CSO Radio in Lakewood, is a vehicle reminder system for parents with children.
This system has already been tested over the course of several years and has proven to work.
“Systems that rely on sensors have been shown by the NHTSA to be unreliable,” Orbach told TLS. “What’s unique about this system, is that rather than relying on sensors, the system monitors driver behavior.”
The system sounds a distress signal using the car’s horn if the child isn’t removed at the end of the ride (see video).
The system, which has also been endorsed by United Hatzalah of Israel, works not only for multiple children, but also works for those not using a car seat – such as seniors or the disabled. In fact, “it even works for pets or a laptop!” Orbach says.
The system has been introduced to the Science & Technology committee of the Knesset by MK Uri Maklev, and steps are being taken by MK Maklev and others to standardize this system for the Israeli public.
The state of Texas has already mandated that child care professionals install such systems, says Orbach, and many there have chosen this system because of its low cost and effectiveness.
“I think what people appreciate most about the system is that it just works, even when they completely forget that it’s there.” Orbach said.
Just keep a bungy cord in the car. Clip one end to the infant’s seat or back seat buckle etc.and 2nd end to your shirt, purse or driver side door.
– brilliant idea. …make sure to undo the baby’s side first so that the metal hook hits the driver in the face instead of the baby.
