BREAKING UPDATE: Lakewood School Superintendent offered full-time job after turning down Interim offer

Ms. Laura Winters, the School District Superintendent who turned down an interim position on Wednesday, has been offered to come back for a full-time position, TLS has learned.

In an email to Ms. Winters, Board of Education President Barry Iann wrote, “You told me yesterday that you are not interested in an interim superintendent position. Would you be interested in returning as a full-time superintendent starting on July 1 through June 30, 2020? Please let me know as soon as possible.”

The other option would be to go with Lee Seitz, as an interim, until a permanent superintendent is found.

  1. The board finally got it right. $30,000 and a 4 month search couldn’t find anybody better. The board passed on over 20 candidates that applied. Mrs. Winters deserves to be reappointed. Another search would have been a waste of money and left the district with an interim superintendent with no long-term investment or benefit. The district needs a permanent leader willing to make a long-time commitment to Lakewood’s children.

  2. It is not good for one person to control the entire school district.

The problems Lakewood has had is due to the State funding formula.

No one is going to solve the problem until the state fixes the funding formula.
