BREAKING VIDEO & PHOTOS: Man jumps out of his 2nd floor window after home invasion by 3 armed men [UPDATED]

[UPDATES BELOW] A home invasion has prompted a massive response from Law Enforcement this afternoon.The incident occurred on Route 88.

“I can confirm that we’e on scene of a possible home invasion,” Police said. “At this time, the investigation is very active, with response from the Lakewood Police Department, Lakewood Special Response Team and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Additional information will follow as it’s available.”

The entire perimeter has been shut down. Only local traffic is being allowed in the area.

UPDATE 3:58 PM: The area is being reopened.

UPDATE 5:05 PM: Just before 1pm, a caller reported that he just picked up a male who was “running for his life” along Ocean Avenue.

According to the caller, the male had jumped from a second floor window in his home after he was confronted by three armed men. The victim stated that he was in his bedroom, and upon opening the door, three men, armed with guns were on the other side. Upon seeing this, the man ran and jumped out of a second floor window. He did not sustain any obvious injuries, but Lakewood EMS was contacted to evaluate further.

This prompted the response of the Lakewood Police Department’s Patrol Division, Special Response Team, Detective Bureau and Negotiator Det. Peter Aakjer. In addition, we received support from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 Unit, CSI and Special Response Team along with the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

Officers from the specialized units made a tactical entry into the residence and after an extensive search, did not find anyone in the home. At this time, Investigators are trying to identify any potential witnesses to the event.

  1. Surprised to see people walking around near the area. They had no idea where these three armed men were at this point. IMO they should have made the area a little more secure. The schools are right down the road. Was a lockdown even considered? Thankfully no one was hurt.

  2. Well the entire area should have been secured and the perpetrators should have been in custody. By imprisoning everyone in there cars for so long you put many people in jeopardy. The entire area was gridlock for 3 to 4 hours. Many of those people have health issues and can not be imprisoned for so long a time.
