JUST IN: Both overnight vehicle fires in Lakewood deemed Arson; “Nothing to suggest that the incidents were biasly motivated”

The vehicle fires in Lakewood over night were deliberately done, police said this afternoon.

As earlier reported, earlier this morning officers responded to a car fire on Miller Rd and a short time later a second one on Iroqoius Place. Both prompting Fire Department response.

“Further investigation, with the assistance of the New Jersey State Fire Marshal K-9 Unit, the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and Ocean County Criminal Investigations Unit, both fires have been deemed as arson,” Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith said.

He added, “However, there is nothing to suggest that the incidents were biasly motivated or linked to any specific group or any other specific incident.”
