VIDEO & PHOTOS: Lakewood businessmen using helicopter to avoid traffic from Manhattan

The recently-launched Lakewood-Manhattan helicopter service is becoming  increasingly popular.Upperide's flight yesterday to Lakewood from Manhattan, dropped off businessmen who couldn't afford to waste time sitting in traffic. The ride took approximately 24 minutes.

The Frum-owned company, flying since 2002, currently services three locations in Manhattan, one in Lakewood, another just minutes from Monsey, and 3 in the Catskills. Plans are also underway to service Brooklyn and the Five Towns. In addition, Upperide currently services Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, and all airports in the region.

The company flies to the Catskills on Thursday and Friday, with a flight time of 35 minutes, according to the company website.

Minutes after the helicopter landed at the Lakewood Airport, it was back in the air for another ride in New York.

Here are some shots from along the trip, and its arrival and takeoff in Lakewood.

  1. I don’t think the writer should say “couldn’t afford to waste time sitting in traffic.” It is not being sensitive to the vast majority of people that can’t afford this service, and have to take the bus while supporting their families. The advantages are obvious, and need to be specified, much less in a pretentious fashion.

  2. I hope that all the time that was saved will be used to help their wives and learn an extra omud gemarrah! Otherwise, what was the gain of time for!!

  3. Wow I thought I had to walk down the street to have kin’ah. Now with the advances of modern day technology I can experience kin’ah from the comfort of my living room….

  4. you are all jealous. next time you want to go to Eretz Yisroel i think you should take a bus , and don’t forget when and if you get off a plane to help your wives and learn an amud gemara

  5. They can have more customers to the country if they lower the price, what would u do:
    $650- chopper to country
    Or
    $650- ticket to Israel
    ?
I’m not writing to attack, I hope the owner will see this.
Same for Brooklyn, IF it will be a reasonable price (ex; buy a 10 trip book for cheaper etc.) I WOULD USE IT TO BROOKLYN.
    Thanks

  6. You jealous ppl , plz get a life, be happy when someone is successful just because mocking him will make you look like a bigger fool!!

  7. One day, when I become super rich and win the lottery I will spend several hundred dollars to get to the catskills. Until then, I will have to be content with driving my beaten up car (oh, no!).

Looking forward to sharing my wealth when I receive it!

  8. Saving hours of time and stress? Seems to me that is a priceless commodity. A businessman can arrive at a critical meeting and be back in the office in less than two hours round trip instead of losing an entire day on the road. Sure, helicopter commuting isn’t for everyone, and you’ll know if it’s for you if you are one of the few who can understand that this is not a luxury but a necessity in today’s busy world where people value time.

  9. Wow wow
