Burglary suspect runs off after Lakewood homeowner warns him she’s calling police

A burglar was scared off after a homeowner warned him she would calling the police.

At about 9:40 PM on August 20, Officers Vincent Wittmann and Kevin Ortiz were sent to a Hadassah Lane home after the resident reported that an unidentified male had just tried to enter the home.

“Upon arrival, the Officers learned that the homeowner spotted someone on her back deck near a sliding door,” Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith tells TLS. “She immediately ran over and closed the blinds while pushing on the door to ensure that the suspect could not make entry. According to the report, the suspect attempted to pull the door open but was scared off when she warned of calling the police.”

The suspect is described as 5’8″-5’10” tall, medium build, wearing black clothing, including a black mask, cape and red sneakers. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Michael Cavallo at 732-363-0200 ext. 5317.
