Reader-submitted: Dear Lakewood Scoop, The following is something that is truly remarkable:Welcome to a revolutionary approach to the formation of a Yeshiva.
Traditionally, Yeshivas are founded by a Rosh Hayeshiva with a specific vision in mind and then Bochurim are added to that equation. Now for the first time, a brand new first-of-it’s-kind Yeshiva is opening its doors with a revolutionary approach to accommodating its Bochurim in every way – this Yeshiva has been founded BY the Bochurim, as a clear alternative going forward.
A group of Bochurim have approached a generous donor who B”H has agreed to back the following setup in full:
A group of Bochurim who want high-level learning and guidance in many different areas have recruited top Rabbeim to accommodate every spiritual and practical need without concern for any other factor other than each individual Bochur’s wellbeing. There will be unlimited Yungeleit and Madrichim, established Magidei Shir plus any other assets to ensure each Bochur sees the growth he wants out of his time in the Yeshiva.
Hagoan Harav Simcha Bunim Cohen Shlita, Hagoan Harav Elya Brudny Shlita and many others are actively involved in ensuring the success of this novel concept and passionately support its formation.

Kol Hakavod and hatzlacha rabah!
Wow sounds really remarkable the lakewood yeshiva system really needs more of these yeshivas
Yeshiva is family!
Great idea! Hatzlacha
Forgive for or not understanding…. but what is revolutionary about this ?
I’m not saying it’s not. I just don’t understand the great benefits of this ? Please elaborate.
Will the boys do the fundraising as well?
No fundraising needed. One donor is backing the whole thing and yes that was directly arranged by the Bochurim.
I thought Reb Shach didn’t like to be dependent on one donor I know in case it was the governenment but even so.
A yeshiva should not be run as a democracy. I don’t think this is a healthy model.
Great idea!!!!!!
I don’t think this bottom to up style is good.
Bochurim need Rabbeim that can teach them and have authority over them, not the other way around.
What will happen if a Rebbi tells a bochur something he does not like, get rid of him? Feeling of entitlement of owning the Yeshivah?
Does not sound healthy/good at all.
Look at our mesorah. NEVER in our history had this occurred. This is reason enough to say no. Unless a true gadol calls now a time of eis laasos lashem. The young should absolutely feel dependent on the previous generation. Eiyin bava kamma 20: on the top of the amud.
For sooo many reasons in todays climate, this is an incredible idea. The people who understand the need this is filling, they will get it. Plus, the Rabbanim are behind it! Thats really all that matters.
@my2c yeshiva grodna was started by the talmidim, of course they listen to the rabbiem. The point is the rabbiem are helping each bocher individually like the alter of slabodka did
MOSHI you are amazing.
The article starts out saying
“Traditionally, Yeshivas are founded by a Rosh Hayeshiva with a specific vision in mind and then Bochurim are added to that equation.”
Then at the end it says “Spots are limited. Based in Lakewood. Opening for Elul. Ages 19-24.
All questions, comments and how to apply please reach out to us at 732-551-7180. Looking forward to bringing you on board.”
Which way is it???
Are the spots limited refering to rabbeim who want to apply?
Sounds like an idea influenced by the outside (post-)modern world, not something that’s part of our Mesorah
When it says unlimited yungerleit
Are they also only under 24 yrs old
@dov Harav Simcha Bunim Cohen Shlita and Harav Elya Brudny Shlita are actively involved in ensuring the success of this novel concept and passionately support its formation! And yeshivas Grudna in Europe was started the same way.
Why does everyone have a דעה when it’s backed by דעת תורה. If you think you also have דעת תורה then go fight it out with them and also spend your time on the scoop in this time you should be writing your חידושי תורה
This is a great idea but actually it has been done in the past.
I am quite taken aback by the terrible negativity in this comments section. Is this what Lakewood is all about these days? No wonder Moshiach hasn’t arrived yet. Maybe they started this Yeshiva to get away from such people?
Sounds amazing
Moshiach hasn’t arrived because people have opinions?!
No, there is nothing wrong with having opinions, even if you feel different. Disallowing others from having opinions is Sinas Chinam.
