PHOTOS: Over 1,200 students, local officials attend ‘Pep Rally’ at the Lakewood High School

Today, more than 1200 Lakewood High School students and staff, Board of Education members, Township Manager Thomas Henshaw, and elected officials – including Committeeman Michael D’Elia, Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, and Committeeman Menashe Miller – attended an opening day “pep rally” today at the Lakewood High School.

The “Piners Pride Is Back” spirit was on display, with the event kicking off with Star Spangled Banner melody performed by the High School band. A Moment of Silence was held for the city of Houston, devastated by Hurricane Harvey, with special mention of the Lakewood residents who recently volunteered their time in Houston, and others who donated hundreds of food packages, appliances and more.

Student “ambassadors” (selected based on academic achievement and citizenship) were presented to the crowd, as were the district’s fall sports teams and coaches.

“Thank you Superintendent Laura Winters, Principal Marcy Marshall for helping our students, staff and Lakewood community come together and proclaim “we are Lakewood – we are somebody,” said Board Attorney Michael Inzelbuch.
