But for over a thousand families in Lakewood, the month of Tishrei brings panic and stress, as they simply cannot manage to feed their families. Esrogim and Lulavim are the last thing on their minds. What’s on their minds is food. Not fancy Yom Tov food, but regular day-to-day sustenance that they have a difficult time coming by due to difficult financial situations.
We are not being dramatic. This is reality. This is the reality that the #TomcheiTishrei campaign was designed to alleviate in a collective day of giving, where a minimum of $1 Million must be raised to provide for our friends,neighbors and relatives in need. It’s not optional; it must be raised!
Starting today, Monday, September 18th, and going for 36 hours, the #TomcheiTishrei campaign will, together with the generous help of donors from Lakewood, Jackson, Toms River, Howell and beyond, raise the $1 Million necessary to ensure that every family in Lakewood has Simchas Yom Tov.
Every dollar donated to this campaign will be matched by a few remarkable donors to quadruple its value. $150 becomes $600, $500 becomes $2,000, $3,600 becomes $14,400. Yes, it’s incredible! In one day, the day of giving dubbed #TomcheiTishrei, thousands of individuals in Lakewood will go from being stressed about their sustenance to being joyous at being able to celebrate Tishrei and its Yomim Tovim like everyone else.
Remember, without #TomcheiTishrei there is no Tishrei for the families in need. We cannot let that happen.

I think the organization and campaign are very needed and everyone should contribute but please do not write something that is for the most part not true that thousands of people are not thinking about an esrog is a lie maybe some people don’t know how they will pay for it but wether this organization gives them money or not they will get an esrog and I am sure they are thinking about it just don’t lie and emabress people to raise money for your organization
Tovia, You are a moron. Give money to help your neighbors in need, and stop nitpicking.
When I was on Tomchei Shabbos, believe me, I didn’t think about an esrog. Nothing mattered more than paying my bills and putting food on the table. I got an esrog in the shuk on Erev Yom Tov for $5, at the last minute.
Stop criticizing and start helping.
