[COMMUNICATED] Hatzolah received the following message along with a donation, and we feel it is important to share it with the entire community.

Dear Hatzolah,

I have been living in Lakewood for several years and have always noticed the annual Tomeich Hatzolah campaign going on. To be honest, I have never donated – until now; I’d like to explain why.

This past Motzoei Shabbos before Selichos, my Rov shared an insight: When we ask Zochreinu L’chaim, why do we point out that Hashem is a Melech Chofetz B’chaim? A person enjoys giving a gift, when it is appreciated. So too, Hashem gives life when it is appreciated. When asking for life, we connect with this message and focus on Hashem’s desire to give life, and daven that it impacts our life, and the lives of our loved ones.

I thought to myself, how can I demonstrate that I value and appreciate life? Making each moment count with learning Torah and doing chesed is essential. But, wouldn’t donating to Hatzolah – an organization that is all about making each moment count, be an expression of recognizing the gift of life too? Wouldn’t partnering with Hatzolah’s lifesaving efforts show that I truly value life?

That’s why I’m donating to the Tomeich Hatzolah campaign this year, for the very first time. I hope others do the same. May we all merit a year of life!
