BREAKING: NJ Realtor Abruptly Resigns After The Vaad Condemns Realtor’s Bigoted Comment [UPDATED – Statement from Weichert Realtors]

Within hours after The Lakewood Scoop published the Lakewood Vaad’s call on Weichert Realtors to disassociate from realtor Tony Sloane, who had posted a highly inflammatory bigoted comment online, Mr. Sloane claimed via email and on his Facebook page that he has resigned his position with Weichert and would be leaving the real estate industry.

“I resigned from Weichert today by my own choice. Weichert is in no way responsible for my political beliefs. I will also no longer be doing real estate,” Sloane wrote to TLS in an email.

While Tony Sloane claimed in his resignation that his comments were only “political,” observers note that suggesting that Ocean County become Judenrein is anything but “political.” Perhaps Sloane meant they were political as in the virulent political anti-Semitism common of the 1930’s in Germany and other European countries.

This comes mere weeks after Larry Schuster abruptly resigned from the Jackson Township Zoning Board after he was notified that his bigoted social media comments were about to be published by The Lakewood Scoop.

Weichert Realty has yet to condemn Sloane’s “kick-the-Jews-out” rhetoric, leading local community leaders to question whether Weichert continues, even post Sloane’s resignation, to approve of bigotry and hatred. TLS reached out to Mr. Sloane’s former employer for comment, but they have not yet responded as of the time of publication.

“Bigotry against any individual or community has no place in civilized society – period, and we call on Weichert to condemn hate speech,” notes Rabbi Moshe Zev Weisberg, spokesman for The Lakewood Vaad. “The Vaad will continue to aggressively fight discrimination and bigotry in all forms, while seeking to build bridges of tolerance and understanding among people of good will.”

UPDATE: Weichert Realtors has released the following statement to TLS:

“This morning, immediately after learning of the statement posted on Facebook by Tony Sloane, we requested a meeting with him to discuss his actions as they do not in any way reflect the conduct we expect from our sales associates. The company and Tony Sloane have agreed to immediately part ways, and he is no longer affiliated with Weichert.”

On his page it shows no sales in the last 12 month. Unsuccessful people are always full of hate.

    • There’s no need to embarrass him like that. Calling out hate is what the focus should be. Also was he given an opportunity to recant his statement and apologize before threatening his employment? We have to tread carefully when trying to decrease hate.

      A Non-goy from Lakewood

  2. Nice job TLS and Vaad. Every one of these haters need to be taken down. Hate speech should not be tolerated in our great country.

I have all types of friends from every single background and faith. We can all get along and we can all have different views. But there’s no place for hate.

    A Goy from Jackson.

    • I don’t understand what you are celebrating. One guy resigned from his Real Estate job. His opinion remains the same. Driving bigots “underground” does nothing to change their message….just the mechanisms they use to express it.

  3. He was given the benefit of doubt. But when you say something so inflammatory and dangerous to another’s wellbeing, there’s a price that’s paid. Our words have an impact and consequences. We all would do well to reflect on this.

  4. Great job by the Vaad and Tls standing up to the despicable trolling and online harassment of Orthodox Jews. More needs to be done about John Burrows, a former Jackson Zoning board member, who clearly invited violence against Jews on Facebook. There is no way any decent human being can be silent when confronted with this hatred. To all the members of the African American, Hispanic, Asian and Muslim communities, please realize this; When the haters get bored of harassing Orthodox Jews they will come after you. Hate has no borders and does not distinguish between different minorities. Let’s all come together and condemn any hate against any minority.

  5. JACKSON STRONG BIGOTS beware you are next!
    Quickly quit your teaching job….
    Become self employed…..
Or whatever else that will help you try to save face unlike tony.

    • FL – Don’t confuse moderation and temperance with being “on the side against the jews”. There is room for all points of view and “us and them” only breeds more hatred.

  6. When will people learn that they cannot say whatever they please on social media when at work? You shouldn’t be on social media when you are on the clock regardless of whether you are being a bigot or liking a cute kittens pic.

  7. Thank you the Vaad !!! A job well done. As a child if Holocust survivors, there is no reason for Anti Semitisim, in this great country of ours. Let freedom ring!!!??

    • He may hate even more but were not discussing hate. We are discussing expressing hate. Thats a big difference. Now that we established what the issue is I can explain what was accomplished.
      A. He will think twice before he does something irresponsible like EXPRESSING hatred in any form. B) This should send a clear message to all other haters out there that Incitement will not be tolerated.

  8. Anyone here familiar with the Bill of Rights? First amendment? As unpopular as it is the man has the right to say whatever he wants. It’s America!

    • Anyone familiar with Incitement? Or Incitement to violence? The Bill of Rights DOES NOT nor does the First amendment give anyone the right to Incite. Period! Get your facts straight Einstein.

  9. To Ignorance is Bliss,
The Supreme Court would argue with you, look it up Brandenburg vs. Ohio 1969, it was ruled that ALL speech is protected under the first amendment except speech “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action.” There was no imminent threat here and therefore he was within his right to make those remarks, when u start silencing differing opinions u go down a slippery slope of losing ur constitutionally guaranteed rights. Although the Left parades this is the media brainwash all day, “hate speech” is a non-existent made up term, insulting someone is not a crime. Now I’m not condoning what he said, in fact I would call him out on it without a doubt, but u cannot take the Left’s lead and start silencing other minority opinions, that’s contrary to the basic principles of our country.
