Reminder: 4th Quarter Taxes due; Township closed Friday

Being that tax bills are only mailed to you once a year, we’re reminding you that the 4th quarter is past due.
There is a 10 day grace period, so if your taxes are received by the 10th, no interest will be charged. If your payment is received after the 10th, you will be charged interest based on the number of days between the 1st and the day your payment is received.

Being that the Township offices are closed Friday due to Veteran’s Day, you will need to make the payment today to avoid late fees.

Taxes are paid quarterly; the first two quarters add up to half of what was billed on the property the prior year and the third and fourth quarter are based on the actual tax rate. If taxes go up, the third and fourth quarter are generally larger than first and second quarter; if taxes go down, the third and fourth quarters are smaller than the first and second.

Tax bills are mailed once a year, during the Summer, and contain four coupons. Taxes are due February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1.

  1. Actually – we just called and were told that because they are closed Friday, the grace period is extended until Monday. Do your own research but this is what we were told.

  2. To PH- thank you. that is what I thought as well but didn’t confirm so I didn’t post. They usually extend the grace period if the 10th is a holiday.
