UPDATE: Township passes first reading to approve Master Plan

The Lakewood Township this evening passed the first reading to approve the Master Plan.

The Master Plan finally passed the Planning Board during its last meeting, but it still required the approval of the Township.

All committeemen voted for it, except Akerman.

The second reading is expected to take place in two weeks.

The Master Plan sets the rules for the town’s growth for the next 10 years.

  1. It’s sad that we keep on creating the same mess over and over again without proper infrastructure in place, if all the planning the past 20 years would have been proactive instead of reactive I think we all agree that the town would be in a much better place today. And it doesn’t seem like we’ve learned the lesson yet.

  2. Lehiyot, you’re a little late. There has been discussion about this MASTER plan for a while. We are the subjects to the MASTERS of this town who build with no cheshbon. Stupidity is making the same mistake again & again. We subjects can see how the MASTERS have messed up Lakewood but we vote them in again & again.

  3. I think that anyone voting on this plan should have to take a drive at 4:00 PM, along Cross Street, starting at New Egypt Road.. At Route 9, individual should turn left and drive till East Kennedy. See our roads! Reduce or restrict density! Thanks.

  4. I am a professional in this town & I agree with those who condemn the unabated growth of this town. I have been here for close to 30 years and watching it get worse and worse. Hello! where are the bureaucrats who keep promising to improve things? Stop promising or stop building. From my perspective, every tree comes down, more houses go up, roads are left in poor repair and we sit in traffic – shame on all of the people who lead this town in a way that benefits a select few!
