The Howell Township Police Department is investigating a possible child luring that occurred on Tuesday at approximately 4:45pm on Pitch Pine Ln. in Howell.
It was reported that a black newer model Hyundai Sonata, operated by a “light-brown” skin male (possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern) approximately 30 years old, approached two children, ages 11 and 8 who were playing in their front yard.
The operator of the vehicle stopped in front of the house and asked the two children if they wanted Christmas gifts. The driver then handed the 11 year-old several gifts, including an “Amazon” gift card and coloring book. He was alone and did not exit the vehicle. As this was happening, the mother of the child exited the house and noticed the man talking to the children. When the suspect saw the mother, he immediately sped off. The mother immediately called police but the suspect nor his vehicle could be located. The suspect gave the juveniles the “gifts” just before speeding off. Those items were turned over to police. There was no additional conversation between the suspect and the children.
The vehicle is believed to bear a Delaware registration possibly beginning with a “D”.
