TONIGHT: The Amazing Latke Cook Off Live on TLS at 9:00 PM – Meet The Contestants

Tonight, for the first time ever, exclusively on TLS you will get to watch the most amazing culinary event EVER in Lakewood, The Grand Latke Cookoff LIVE! Form Evergreen.

Tonight’s event will be hosted by Yossi Zweig from the Z Report, and our panel of celebrity judges: Jake Turx, Ami Magazines special White House Correspondent, Jewish Music sensation Dovid Gabay and of course, Evergreens very own Chesky Zeiger, Chef de Cuisine at Glatt Geshmak, Lakewood’s best deli.

Meet the Contestants!

Competing in tonight’s competition will be Hudi Greenberger. Hudi is a commercial photographer that specializes in food photography. Even if you’ve never heard of him (doubtful), you’ve certainly seen his work all over town and in literally every Jewish publication. Aside from shooting Mishpacha Magazine’s Family Table photos, he also contributes food articles and recipes as well. Many of the ads and food packaging photos you know so well is his fabulous work. His passion for photographing food comes naturally along with his love of cooking. He also shoots product and architectural photography. You can see his work at HudiGreenberger.com

Going up against Hudi is renowned Lakewood chef Yosef Mutterperl. A native of Brooklyn NY, Yosef moved to Lakewood, NJ a few years after he got married. After 15 years working in the dining service at YU, he opened the South Side Sandwich Shop and Smokehouse. While he was firing up the grill during the day, he enrolled in the Fire Academy to become a Volunteer Firefighter. It is no surprise that when he was asked to go down to Houston by his friend Chaim Goldfeder from Texas Kosher BBQ, he did just that. He closed the doors to his shop and drove down to Houston to cook with Chaim for an entire week. The opportunity to bring food and Chizuk to the Jewish community was incredible for Yosef. Yosef, by far the most innovative food personality in Lakewood, will no doubt have something special up his sleeve tonight.

And finally, Aryeh Holtzberg. Aryeh is a foodie in the true sense of the word. With his keen understanding of food and how to truly honor and bring out the natural flavors in the ingredient he chooses, Aryeh will be a force to be reckoned with. Aryeh understands good food and respects the tradition of food preparation. Will Aryeh stick with his Bubby’s hungarian latke recipe or will he be bringing a new twist to the traditional potato pancake? We cannot wait to see!

So, make sure to tune in right here live at 9:00 PM or if you’d like, stop by Evergreen and watch the show in person. This will definitely be the Best. Show. Ever!

  1. We had a great time watching the show at Evergreen. We were there for Shabbos Chanukah. I forgot to mention to the young lady who interviewed me (I am Hudi’s mother), that I have a great chocolate business in Cleveland, Ohio called Creative Chocolates. If you want to send a delicious chocolate gift to anyone in Cleveland, just call 216-321-1131 or go to my Website at http://www.creativechocs.com. Happy Chanukah!
