Lakewood woman issued multiple summonses after fleeing pedestrian accident scene

A Lakewood woman received multiple summonses after leaving the scene of a pedestrian accident, police said.

At approximately 9:45 pm on Saturday evening, a 53-year-old Lakewood man was struck as he was crossing Clifton Avenue at 7th Street.

Responding Officers learned that the victim was struck by a 2011 Toyota Avalon that was traveling north at Clifton Avenue as he was crossing within the designated crosswalk. As a result he suffered injuries to his legs and back. He also sustained a laceration above his left eye and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

“Further investigation by Officer Kevin Nickerson revealed that the operator, a 21-year-old Lakewood woman, initially fled the scene but later arrived at the police department approximately one hour after the crash,” Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith said. “As a result she received several motor vehicle summonses, including Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident.”
