  1. I can’t answer the poll because not every teacher can be armed!!! Some teachers themselves are corrupted to do such an act. For example a Grumpy teacher that’s getting underpaid and having a difficult class and a difficult principle and a difficult family might do the same. There must be a serious background check!

  2. If you really care for the safety of your children Then yes schools should have safety measures to protect the children & staff.Examples of safety measures are Metal detectors,Can only be Buzzed into the Facility,Armed School personal that are on premise all day(doesn’t specifically have to be teachers) In this day of age of growing terrorism When someone wants to commit an act of terror no strict gun laws will stop them. They will either purchase a gun on the black market,Rent a Truck for a ramming attack, create a bomb………..So the only way to have a chance & stop these attacks in its early stages would be with regular citizens that are legally carrying a weapon & happen to be in the wrong place at the right time

  3. Schools are underfunded as it is. Who pays for gun purchase, training, maintenance, ammo, etc? Imagine the insurance cost of allowing guns in schools! Taxes would go through the roof!

  4. Arming teachers will not make anyone feel safer. However, all teachers should be taught basic safety measures. They should be able to keep calm, lock their doors, cover the windows and keep everyone silent. They should also have access to an emergency weapon such as a stun gun or the like.

Tighter security is the way to go.

  5. I had a few teachers in my life who should never get a gun! But there definitely should be some who really go through a strict background check and be allowed to bring a concealed gun….and and more security

It’s unheard of a shooting in a NRA Meeting for a reason!!

  6. So instead of just trying to keep crazy people out, we can start worrying about the mental health of our overworked, stressed out teachers. Good…let’s lock crazy people with guns INSIDE with out kids.

  7. I work in a public school. While most of the staff is wonderful people, there are always some who are not balanced, have a substance abuse disorder, etc. I would feel much less safe if the staff was armed. Also, sometimes students get out of control, and they could wrest a gun away from the teacher.

  8. I voted no because a student can then access the gun by stealing it from the teacher, and it also might intimidate the younger children.

There should be a panic button in the teachers desk that a) alerts all other classrooms and the main office of a safety threat like a shooter, and b) it locks down all classroom doors and windows. until the teacher confirms it is safe to evacuate.

in addition there should be a communications system between each of the classrooms to the main office. to help the teacher identify where a shooter is located, (via someone montitoring the security camera), which will ensure they evacuate in the direction away from the danger.
not to mention bullet proof doors and glass in windows. although it is expensive, its not more expensive than loss of human life.
