REMINDER: Lakewood Fire District Elections until 10:00 PM

The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners Elections are taking place tonight.Voting began abt 2:00 p.m. and will run until 10:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building Court Room – First Floor, Lakewood Township Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, Lakewood, New Jersey. Fire District No. 1 is comprised of all Election Districts within the Township of Lakewood.

The legal voters of the Fire District will be asked to elect two Fire Commissioners, each for three year terms, to serve on the Board of Fire Commissioners of Fire District No. 1. The two Fire Commissioner Candidates are incumbent David Mizrahi and Yakov Steinberg.

The legal voters of the Fire District will also be asked to approve or disapprove the 2018 Fire District Budget which reflects Total Revenues of $6,310,957 including an amount to be raised by taxation of $6,250,980.

“The Board of Fire Commissioners have constructed the 2018 Budget to include all necessary items the Volunteer and Career Fire Department requires to effectively provide fire protection to the Lakewood community,” the Commissioner’s Office said. “The Budget, which is within the 2% cap permitted by the State of New Jersey, has been approved and adopted by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs – Division of Local Government Services.”

  1. Besides for the two people there is also the question of the budget. In addition if enough people wanted they can do a write in. You don’t need to just vote for the options that they give you.

  2. While we appreciate all what the fire department and volunteer personnel do there is absolutely no reason for a budget increase. Vote no for an increase to their budget and our taxes.

  3. This election is a joke and should not be valid. They schedule it for the most inconvenient time and they usually don’t get more than 150 voters total (in a town of 100k+)

    • Just for the record the date for tis election is set by the State not the Board of Fire Commissioners. This vote is being taken state wide in all Fire Districts.
