Story highlights R’ Shlomo Eliyahu Brustowsky Z”L’s warmth

From a brother of R’ Shlomo Eliyahu Brustowsky Z”L:

Just wanted to share a quick story about my brother R’ Shlomo.

During his hesped at the Levaya, Rabbi Newman told the tzibur about a phone call he had just received from a bochur learning in Eretz Yisroel. This bochur had gone through some very difficult times during his years in yeshiva in the U.S. He told Rabbi Newman that everyone had given up on him.
Everyone except for Shlomo. When everyone had given up on him, Shlomo continued putting kochos into him and giving him chizuk.

Today, that bochur sits and learns in Eretz Yisroel.

When hearing the story, it was hard to actually connect to it. One often hears stories like that, but they don’t really feel real, just something people like telling over…

Then, on Monday morning during Shivah, a businessman whom no one recognized, walked in. He sat down and told the aveilim his name, saying he lives in Chicago. “I just wanted to let you know that the bochur who was mentioned by Rabbi Newman, is my son. Everything he said is true.”

He then got up and excused himself, saying that he had to get to the airport to get his flight back to Chicago.

Hamokom Yinacheim…

  1. Wow, what an inspiration. You don’t hear of such special people in our young generation. We could all learn from the Niftar, who must have had a really special Neshama.
Hashem should give the family the strength to continue.
We should only hear good news, & ultimately mashiach speedily.

  2. Who doesn’t remember Bruzo from Peekskill!
What a special person he always was!

When I spoke with my brother who had him as a dorm counselor he agreed there was not a single negative to hold against him.

Mainly he showed maturity and respect to all human beings!

  3. Amazing story. This story brought me to tears.
May his Almana know of no more pain, and may his neshama have an aliyah.
He should be a meilitz yosher for his whole family, and all of Klal Yisroel.

  4. Having grown up with the niftar, it’s completely understandable that Hashem wanted this beautiful neshama to be next to him. What a special human being who only brought love to everyone around him. We will miss him. May his almana and family have a true nechama…
