  1. The van clearly caused this accident, as the driver cannot see around him. Yes, he should not have proceeded without having a clear look, however, the van is breaking the law by stopping in a traffic lane to let people off. I see this all the time. Pull over to pick up and drop off! The road is meant for people to drive on, not for your personal schedule.

  2. The white van did something illegal was inconsiderate, reckless & caused an accident.
    Inexcusable!
Such a shame if only the driver could have been more considerate and pulled to the side at an appropriate spot.

  3. Parking on alvarado corner is a big problem but much bigger problem is those that park on lanes mill. You can not see how to turn onto lanes mill if cars are parked (even if you park on the sidewalk and even if you are 50 ft from the northeaster eastern corner. There has been many accidents and people don’t learn. I hope that the police come and start giving out big fines instead of warnings.

  4. That corner is very difficult. There should not be parking allowed on lanes mill within certain amount of feet.
And yes, if people drop off or pick up to hitch, they better do it safely
I myself almost never pick up hitchers due to safety reasons ( as much as I would live to)

  5. The van was wrong. BUT the guy in the pickup should have rolled up a bit to get a clear visual. He had enough room to roll forward that would have gave him a CLEAR VISUAL!!!
No one forced him to roll into the intersection blindly!!!!!

  6. Before you talk know the facts. I AM THE DRIVER OF THE VAN!!! I was dropping off someone I drove from my yeshiva and not a hitch. Actually at the time I thought that I may have been a cause but after double checking I didn’t not block traffic at all. I Was pulled over to the side behind other parked cars. also I was not sticking into lanes Mill Rd. there were cars parked on lanes Mill Rd shoulder that may have been blocking his view watch the video again and you’ll notice the first car making the turn he pulled way up and had no problem even though I was there. Besides the pickup driver window was clearly past the end of my van. The problem was the driver didn’t pull far out enough to get a clear view past the parked cars on lanes Mill before making sure it was clear!! Know the facts, then open your mouth!!!

    • Correction. The rear of your van was too close to the intersection and in the crosswalk. You are at fault. Having said that how fast was the car going when it hit the truck. There is a tendency to speed on that road, so there are many factors that contributed to this accident.

    • You blocking the crosswalk shows how far into the intersection you were. I did not state it was your entire fault but a contributed to the accident. If you were not blocking the intersection the driver would have had a better view of the road. Again I ask how fast was the car going that hit the truck.

  7. Reply@just saying,
Youre not making sense. what does blocking the crosswalk have to do with obstructing the driver view? I’ll answer nothing! point is if the van hadn’t been there nothing would have changed. The driver simply didn’t pull far up enough to see past the PARKED CARS on lanes Mill rd it has nothing to do with me stopping in the crosswalk

    • @defending myself – Actually at the time of the accident, there were no cars parked on lanes mils blocking the view. I have seen footage from a different camera view and can post it if needed.

Correct, the driver should have pulled out a bit more before trying to go. But he only had to do that, because of how you were dropping off the people. So while the driver was at legally fault, the way you dropped off the people is what made it possible to happen.

  8. @hasimagefootage
Do me a favor and post the other footage. I was as there and I am pretty confident that there were cars parked on lanes mill rd

  9. Actually where the van dropped off is technically a legal parking spot as per agreement with township painting only the opposite side of Alvarado where one cannot park.
The cars parked regularly on Lanes Mill Road block the visibility of the cars coming out but then again the township “allows” this parking as well as per signage and painted yellow lines which are only by the stop signs on cedar wood and Alvarado
